Residente founded the band Calle 13 in 2004. The duo signed with White Lion Records after a few years of adversity, and the label released their contentious singles “Querido F.B.I.” and “Se Vale To-To.”

Calle 13 became one of Puerto Rico’s most successful musical acts. With their videos, performances, and recordings, they inspired an entire generation of rappers and musicians. They rose to prominence as national heroes, politicians, and artists.

They started collaborating with other well-known musicians, such as Cuba’s Orishas, Nelly Furtado, and Alejandro Sanz, to name a few. As the band’s notoriety increased, their ambitions had no limitations, and they infused their music with jazz, funk, and salsa.

For the release of their third album, “Los de Atrás Vienen Conmigo,” Calle 13 performed in the Coliseo de Puerto Rico in 2009. When the pair visited Cuba the following year, Residente was the subject of discussion once more.

The self-titled documentary by Residente was published in 2017, and they released the song “Sexo” the following year with producer Dillon Francis.

‘Bellacoso,’ a song by Residente featuring Bad Bunny, was released in 2019. The music video was shot in Puerto Rico, and Daddy Yankee inspired the song.

Residente and Sony Music established a joint venture named 1868 Studios in October 2020. Residente will be able to produce content for several platforms, including music, television, cinema, and more, thanks to the multi-year agreement.
